Tyrese's Flight on Otto Pilot
TTT, 2F2F stars join Phoenix remake.
October 28, 2003 - Both The Hollywood Reporter and Variety break the news that
two more thesps have been added to the ensemble cast of 20th Century Fox's remake
of The Flight of the Phoenix. Variety says Tyrese (2 Fast 2 Furious) has joined
the John Moore-directed production while THR reveals that Miranda Otto (Lord
of the Rings: The Two Towers) has as well.
The remake of the 1965 classic stars Dennis Quaid, Giovanni Ribisi, Jared Padalecki. and Tony Curran. Previously reported cast member Jacob Vargas is no longer being mentioned in the trades. Does that mean he's dropped out?
Flight follows the survivors of a cargo plane crash in the Mongolian desert who must rebuild the wreckage of their plane if they're to escape. Variety says "Tyrese will play the plane's tough guy mechanic," while THR adds that Otto is "a geologist."
In the script that I recently reviewed, Tyrese's character was named A.J. and Otto's geologist was Kelly Johnson.
Flight is now filming in Africa for a 2004 release.
